Glasgay! 2007

12th October - 11th November

Welcome to Glasgay! 2007 -  In 2006 Glasgay wa voted Top Gay event of the year by over 10,000 List readers.  So to beat that Glasgay! 2007 brings you a dash of sparkling celebrties, gothic drama, evocative music, boutique style musicals, contempoary visual art and fancy dress party nights.

Start your festival early - join us on Friday 21st September as we celebrate gold lamé hotpants and haute couture at our stunning launch party and exclusive private view of Kylie: The Exhibition at Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum.

For our flagship production Kenny Miller brings Louise Welsh's sexy, swashbuckling, 16th Centuary gothic novel Tamburlaine Must Die to life. National Theatre of Scotland present Tam Dean Burn in Venus as a Boy, a fantasy drama about escape from a turbulent childhood and quest for knowledge of the divine. Random Accomplice return with a hilarious song-filled quest for love in LIttle Johnny's Big Gay Musical.

Comedy fans will be bowed over with the largesse of the programme this year. Amy Lamé chokes on Mama Cass's final sandwich; Craig Hill sashays into the Tron for late night campery and Scott Capurro, Zoe Lyons and Jonathan Mayor return for more laughs at the Stand. West End hit show Grumpy Old Women Live starring Britt Ekland, Dillie Keane and Denise Black comes to the Theatre Royal for one hilarious night. And for all those boys who danced with their hairbrushes in front of the bedroom mirror singing "I had the time of my life!" there's The Music of Dirty Dancing at the King's

Our BOUT!QUE season features exciting new contemporary work by local artists and the opt. Yvonne Caddell presents Colette: the Secret Scenes, a new play about famous French Ingénue Colette, best known as author of Gigi. Martin O'Connor returns with REALITY, a searing look at life and the options for young men starting out. Glitterbox Paradox stage 3 Minutes, a speed-dating roadshow with a difference and Glasseyed invite you to Stick It In My Party Hole, a hysterical journey through one long party night from hell. Queer Up North and Stonewall present Rikki Beadle-Blair's FIT, a new play for young people about difference, acceptance and homophobic bullying.

Our visual art programme has the wonderful, dynamic, woven constructions and sculptural installations of spanish artist Dani Marti that combine intellect and sensual, Baroque minimalism; and US artist Andrew Printer brings experssionistic, staged photographs of the male body, which explore the nature of intimacy.

Party nights are always a big part of Glasgay's winning festival formula. This year we present in partnership with LGBT Youth Scotland, Scotland's first ever Big Gay Prom along with outrageous, longstanding club nights Utter Gutter and Death Disco.

Finally, the film programme at GFT brings us classy date movies, socio-political dramas and fast-talking screwball comedies featuring gay obsession, destructive relationships, love, sex and plenty of eyecandy! Enjoy!
